Hi, my name is Shiva Ravichandran, and I am a 2018 Frontiers of Science Institute Scholar. It is such a phenomenal opportunity and it has really opened my eyes and shown me how amazing science is and how big of a field it is. Just recently we went to Sparkfun electronics and it showed me interesting stem careers are, it ironically further sparked my interest in going into a Science profession. FSI has been truly amazing it has given me a taste at college life and has really helped me to develop myself as a person. It has also helped me improve some key characteristics such as time management as we are expected to be to every class on time, and responsibility as we independent for many parts of FSI. My project is cultivating MAT B3 cells ( cancer cells) and testing the effects of doxorubicin a type of chemotherapy drug on them. It has taught me so many skills research them for example how to work in lab. This year I took AP biology as a course at my school and this is such a good project because it helped me further my knowledge in biology and go more in depth in cancer. I've always been interested in cancer and the medical field since my Grandpa passed away when I was a kid from cancer, so this is truly an amazing opportunity.
